Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, individuals who do not have health insurance or who choose not to use their health insurance to pay for services generally have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much their healthcare services are expected to cost.
If you are paying privately for services through OCD + Anxiety Collaborative, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
A Good Faith Estimate provides an estimate of the charges reasonably expected for your healthcare services based on the information known at the time the estimate is created.
The estimate is not a contract and does not require you to receive services from OCD + Anxiety Collaborative.
Because the length and frequency of therapy can vary based on your individual needs, your estimate may be based on the anticipated frequency of sessions over a specified period of time. Your treatment needs and expected costs can be reviewed and updated as appropriate.
When will I receive one?
If you are uninsured or do not plan to use insurance to pay for your care, you may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services.
If you schedule services at least 3 business days in advance, you are generally entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate. Federal requirements specify different delivery timelines depending on how far in advance the service is scheduled.
What if my bill is higher than my estimate?
If you receive a bill from a provider that is at least $400 more than the amount listed on your Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.
For additional information about your rights under the No Surprises Act, visit the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Good Faith Estimate information.
